Sims was an MP in the army stationed in Montana. He was on duty when an alarm was sounded. He & his partner were informed that a crazy man with a sniper rifle was shooting people in town. They left their post in a military jeep in response to the sniper. As Sims' partner was driving to the scene a rifle round penetrated the driver side windshield killing him. Sims performed a combat roll from the jeep as he was struck in the shin by a rifle round. He huddled down by a parked car with his M-16. As the sniper was taking shots at other people, Sims propped up on the parked car and waited for a clear shot. As soon as he was able to take a clean shot he gunned down the sniper.
I asked to see his leg where he had been hit, but he wouldn't show me. There were a lot of facts Sims couldn't make clear and he has changed his story several time. I can't tell this story well enough as hearing it from Sims yourself.
